i'm a slacker

but it's ok because i am busy...very busy...a good kinda busy...but exhausting...

this is my contribution for the Reduce, Reuse and recycle challenge.
i took the love, elsie graph packaging that the rub on's and expoxy stickers come on and i made it into a little mini with paper inside so i can jot down notes. My best ideas come when i am driving or at work...so no wi will have them handy in one book instead of a million pieces of paper to keep up with.



I used the sold out Homeroom kit from Noel's Scrap Shop for this layout. grungeboard wings from my stash also bought from her.
i am not finished with this layout yet but i will tell you what i am going to do. I had a brain cramp and knew it needed something else so i consulted with my homie cheese and she suggested maybe making pics of Aleida to fit some of the bingo squares...ahhhh perfect...so that is what i am going to do and use pop dots behind them... i will post when it is fully complete....this layout have many tears on it.

1. I have an obession with mopping. yes I mop like crazy...ALL THE TIME
2. My doctors have to be good looking. If they are not rest assured I will not go back. if i have to wait on their ass for an hour or more I want something good to look at damnit!

My Blogiversary

Yes i totally missed it last year but this year...no way...it is in a few days so lets do some blog candy...shall we?

another note i would like to thank each and everyone of you who donated...I even had people who didn't know Aleida donate... i just cannot express the feelings I am experiencing right now. i would like to let you all know that her blog and pics have been transferred to blurb and so I can get out of panic mode. Without the help from April and Greg at Studio Calico, La Verne and Allison Schubert I don't know what i would have done... Allison actually talked to Brandon and he gave her Aleida's login info to typepad and i was able to just easily pull it over without a hitch and it took seriously 10 minutes instead of 10 weeks it would have probably taken doing it manually... I cannot thank you 3 enough for what you have done to make it easier.

I know brandon opened up a memorial Fund acct for the kids so I am still accepting contributions. Anything let over from the cost of the 2 books a check will be cut directly to him and will be included in with the books when i get them.

I cannot even tell you

the overwhelming feeling i am experiencing right now...
You ladies have blown me out the water with your generosity and your stories about aleida to me....

For a minute today I was freaking out a bit. As everyone knows I am having Aleida's blog published in a hard cover book for her family (kids and hubby) and for about 12 hours i had a mental break down thinking i needed her login information to typepad to pull it over...so first thing today i was on the horn with Blurb and spoke to a nice lady. I explained to her i wanted this to be a surprise and i really would feel uncomfortable asking her husband for the information and she said that it should not be a prolem for me to manually upload every post and every pic. Of course it would be easier if i had that information because they would just pull it right over and i would tweak it but none the less...i will do this....it will get done and i cried on the phone with this lady because that was music to my ears...
i knew some way i was having this book done and it did't matter if i had to travel to the moon with it...

I AM HAPPY TO REPORT the book IS STARTED...after it is printed they assured me i would have it in my mailbox within 7-10 days of me hitting the submit for publication button....

Without you ladies this idea would not have been able to come true and i thank everyone of you from all over the world (LITERALLY) who made a contribution.

You better know that fiery rican is smiling down on everyone of us now.

Aleida Franklin...RIP sweet lady

Aleida was a big part of the scrappin community and on Sept 12, 2008 she was taken from her family and children and us suddenly. I cannot express how much i am shocked and hurt.. I cannot stop thinking about her husband and her 2 small children (bella and Josuha)

I had what i think is a brilliant idea to have her blog published into a hard back book for her children. My goal is to have 2 of them published. Any left over money will be sent directly to Brandon for any expenses he see's fit to use it for...

My paypal acct is empty ( i transferred what i had in it out except for my protion of the contribution) so everything in there will be handed over to the family. Crash...Kaboom....Scream

It started out like this on Monday:




Monday was a big milestone for mason....my heart swelled with proudness. O'neil took the training wheels off of his bike and he was doing soooo good. one of the neighborhood kids was around watching him and trying to "help" as well as Melana...but all she was doing was getting in his way. After a few times of telling them to get out his way I gave up.

So it ended like this:





a trip to the emergency room....grrrrr!!!
as he was rounding the corner, i am not quite sure exactly what happened as it all happened so fast, but either he got nervous or melana stopped in front of him ( i think that was the case because she did it to him earlier) but at any rate he fell over and in to the palm tree he went. If any of you are familiar with palm trees they will BITE YOU BAD!! i am usually the calm one but in this case that scream he let out i knew he was hurt and it was BAD...so oneil is screaming at me to get a wet towel i am running across the yard as fast as i can to get something...when i got back there was BLOOD EVERYWHERE he was covered oneil was covered....the cuts and punctures were deep...we loaded him up and off to the ER we went. after getting him calmed down he was a trooper...constantly making me laugh in the hospital with the funny faces and the things he was saying. The doctors was worried that his arm was fractured but thankfully it wasn't. it was just swollen from all the puntures to the underside of his arm as well as the top. His spirits was broken but the next day he decided he would get on his bike and do it again. So i said mason do me a favor he said yes ma'me...i said...please don't go by the palm tree...his response...OH DON"T YOU WORRY ABOUT THAT!! LOL


Today is the last day for voting over at Just Rite Stampers for the championship and my friend Michele Kovack is one of the finalist. So if you would go over here and vote for her, she is # 1 on the list I would so appreciate it and i know she will too. And check out her blog...she makes beautiful creations.



I would like to say in honor of 9/11 that we will never forget those that day.
Today is just a blah day and that might be the cause of my not so chipper mood i am usually in. If you have flags in your yards don't forget to fly them at half mass.

When a hurricane comes and you can't go outside you scrap...right? that is what i did.



This one is for Noel's challenge that will roll out tomorrow.


This mini was made by using the inserts to the cropper hoppers. I decided i didn't need them because really i don't use the cropper hoppers so i cut them into 6x12 and went to town.

Nothing else happening in this exciting life of mine so I am going to go take a nap and maybe scrap another page or 2 this afternoon.

Trying to get my routine back

I haven't a clue how the hell i got off track but i have and now it's time to hop back on the right path.

Remember back on July 4th when Melana almost drowned...well a few weeks back (see told ya i was off track and i suck) I received a package in the mail unexpectantly from my bloggin pal Kelley. I didn't remember swapping anything with her or anything like that so i was a little confused. Much to my shock and suprise this is what i received from her


She wrote me a nice sweet note that said that was my mommy medal of honor.

Now let me just say...it takes ALOT to make me cry but she had me balling. I could not believe it...Isn't my medal of honor the prettiest thing ever?
She has a shop where she sells her creations and you can visit her store here and her jewelry blog here i will always cherish it. This necklace is stunning in person. I know that picture doesn't do it justice but you will just have to trust me on it. I am so grateful to have so many friends that i have never met because of this internet and blogging. Everyone of you girls mean the world to me. Thank you so much Kelley you don't know how much that means to me :)

So when the winds slacked up a bit oneil and i decided we would go out and assess what was going on with the bay...our rental house is close to the water and we wanted to see how far the water was up. he has to report to the command center tonight at 6p (for those of you that don't know he is an investigator with the sheriff's office). here are some of the pics i was able to get

this pic is from the people who use to rent my house while building their massive house back on the ater that they lost in katrina...thi is the back bay rolling it.
her husband is handicap and so that is the handicap ramp they built for him to get out to their pier

this is some boat lifts that are pretty much close to being fully underwater. they are on the canal from the back bay

this is the pier out from said renters house you can see the roof and that is about it. which means the back bay is at about 20+ feet high right now and we haven't even made it to high tide yet. it will be safe to say that until this hurricane passes you won't be able to see the pier.

this is the retaining wall they built and they have appox a foot before the water goes over it...the bottom foor of their house those is a pool. the actual house doesn't start until another 5 feet up in the air so it will be safe to say i doubt they flood.

that is someones fence in their backyard that backs up to the back bay. They are next door to my old renters house. they do sit a little bit lower than my old renters...don't cha think?

this is water from the causeway bridge. you can't even see the bridge it is completely submerged in water. the next shot is an upclose but really all you can see is water...i might have a pic of what it should look like...i'll have to see

i do know right now that the beach is flooding bad and so is the area with all the casino's and what we call "the point". But i am high and dry..so no worries.

okay for all of you that are worried...and Elizabeth that left a comment....everything is ok down here...so far we are still good....no down trees yet or power outage...that is always a plus...we are only received about 70 mph wind gusts for now...it is 9:30 in the morning and we still have about another 12-14 hours of Gustav to endure.....i will keep everyone updated as long as i have electricity.
