it's been so long

i'm alive..just busy living.
i can't seem to find the time nor desire to blog, craft or do anything really.



2011 has to definitly be better than 2010.... this year has sucked...

Friday the 13th and Scrappy's

Happy Friday the 13th ya'll

I was so honored that tara from Up the Street Scrapbooking asked me to be a guest designer for the month of August. She is soo super sweet and hilarious. Her personality and sense of humor is alot like mine so we "get" each other. This month I got the Main Kit "Snowcones" and the project Kit "Travel Journal". I have had so much fun playing with it. After several months of a scrappy break it felt good to jump back in and get my feet wet again.





I did a project also with this kit but unfortunatly I can't show it. SYC was asked by ScrapStreet ezine to be featured in the October issue so I submitted that for the article.

Speaking of SYC get ya booty over there and play along with us this month. It's all about the tape.

On a Happy Note...

Mason's Mario Quilt is Finished and so is my brother's....well the top of it...i haven't wuilted either of them yet but the hard part is done so in my mind it is finished...LOL

As soon as i get a chance to hang this massive thing up (mason's) i will get photos.
I will have to hang it up outside and then take the picture from my upstairs in order to get the whole quilt in one shot.

My brothers Mario quilt is just a lap quilt so i can get it in one shot...

As if....

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse then poof....
right infront of your eyes you look up from the riding lawn mower and see your driver side door all dented in where oneil's grandmother backs slap in to my car and crunches my door all up.... is it ever going to end???

Deep sigh!

At some point you break... that is the point i am at now.
O'Neils grandmother living with us for the last 3 years is ABSO FREAKING LUTELY making me so miserable that i cannot stand to even go home. This woman is a complete card I tell ya and that is being nice.

I'm drained...I'm tired...I'm broken and most of all I AM DONE!

It's hard for me to talk to O'Neil about it because after all it is his grandmother but the strain on us is killing us....he knows it... he just deals with it better than i do by working late and yadda yadda....i don't have that luxury of doing what i want like that. That really pisses me off and makes me very bitter towards him.

he doesn't have to listen to a quarter of the shit i do day in and day out from that broad.....respect your elders is totally out the window when it comes to her.

again I AM DONE! She has to go.... or I just might have to...it's to that point...
I've tried and tried to hold it together but slowly I am losing it. And it will get ugly.

I must be getting old

I think it is probably appropriate to say when you start looking forward to the 3rd saturday in the month to get your quilt on with a bunch of old ladies that mean you are getting old...{deep sigh}

I will be finishing the top of Mason's Mario quilt tomorrow and starting a smaller version of one for m y brother's wedding gift. His is just going to have Mario on it but not in the jumping position. His wedding is 10/10/10 (yeah he's silly like that) and so I have to have it completed by then. No sweat I can do it.

In other news my dear sweet girl Tara ask if I would guest design for her kit club Up the Street for the month of August and of course I said yes. So i will be breaking out the scrappy stuff soon and do some things for her. I am looking forward to playing with some paper. i haven't created anything scrappy since the middle of May. Stay tuned.

this is what has been consuming all my time

June 7th i started on a Super Mario Quilt for Mason. This year his Christmas will be Mario themed....well last year too but this year a bit different.
This kid LIVES AND BREATHES all things Mario. So i tackled this.
Now grant you this is my very first EVER quilt so me being the insane person I am, I jump in head first and decided I'll make a full size.. OY! I'm chuggin along the top is almost done but this is pics I have so far.

the only character i have left to get sewed on is koopa and the top is done minus the brick border at the bottom and then the solid border on the sides.

His Christmas present from us is his room transformed into a scene out of the game.

My pal Elizabeth turned me on to this amazing site that sells these amazing mario re-stiks. Of course if it were me i would totally go old school. But it's Mason and he doesn't know about old school Mario. I'm going to have him fixed up! I can't wait to see it all come together. Alot of blood, sweat and tears is going into this but i know he will TOTALLY appreciate it.

Mario Bros. Quilt

Mason is a HUGE HUGE HUGE Mario junkie. He apparently takes after my brother who is 26 and still hasn't outgrown mario since he was 4 {deep sigh} anyhoo! I decided a while back that I was going to redo Mason's room to be Mario.

Elizabeth sent me a link for a quilt she saw online and it was cute but it needed some modifications for my liking. So that is just what i did. This is my first attempt at making a quilt. I will post periodically througout the process. If all goes well i suppose i shall make my brother one for Christmas as well.

After cutting out 1032 2.5 inch squares while watching the Bachlorette (yes i love trash t.v) i am now wondering what the hell i have got myself into. But i shall move forward.

hello.....

is anyone out there?

i haven't been blogging much lately but I am hoping to get better at it...
i went on hiatus for a while...we just got back from Disney World and I am still exhausted. I swear i need a vacation from my vacation.

A piece of advice...make sure you take another week off after you come back from Disney World...i promise you will need it.

I will get pictures uploaded soon.

How is everyone? Did you all desert me? :)

2 Beauty's

I figured I better go ahead and get most (or at least try to get most) of my Disney pics scrapped that were left before we went back. I would hate to be 2 trips behind :)
I ran across this one when i was searching and it cracked me up because we were on day 3 there and this particular day were we eating lunch at Cinderella's Castle. She still could not get over that she was able to meet all the princesses.

A bit of Color Inspiration

I love looking at the 100 Layer Cake Blog for color inspiration among many other things. If you haven't bookmarked this blog I would highly recommend it.

If you noticed I wanted a layer effect to the scallop border at the top of my pic so what i did was take my ole trusty sharpie and draw the lines inside the edge a bit and then draw the scallop on the outside of the border and it gives that illusion there are to of them that i layered when in fact it is only one...love that. see if you don't have two of soemthing then you just do it the "thrifty" way ;)

This was Mason's 1st day of Kindergarten...now he is goin in the 3rd grade...eeekkk... I'm trying to catch up :)

Last but not least if ya'll are still hanging with me... I saw a tutorial a long time ago on a purse made from a book and for whatever reason i remembered it. I cut out the pages of a Sue Grafton Book that I had double copies of and made this little purse for Melana...she thinks she is hot stuff now :)



After I took these pics I realized a few things needed fixing so I did that and also I know what not to do next time i make one. Which i am in the process of now because her little bff in the neighborhood wants one. We'll see if that one turns out a wee bit better in the inside...

I wish i had some football to watch :( instead i am drinking beer and eating lots of crawfish while soaking up some sun.

for my Paw Paw

We had a fun message board challenge going a few weeks back so I thought I would share my sketch with you if you are not a member of our rockin community.


For those that don't know I am a HUGE Saints Fan and I am very lucky I live in Saints Nation so for me this was bittersweet. This layout was very very emotional for me to scrap. Quite a few tears were shed during this scrap session ;) Many Many saints memories with my paw paw. I have a lot more i want to say so i will turn this into a 2 pager but the second page is going to be nothing but journaling.

Next up is my cute lil puppy dog who is now 10 weeks old. Her name is Tallulah Beignet but we call her Beignet. She's my Saints Superbowl doggie. Born 45 minutes after they won the Superbowl.
